secret shame

Do you have a secret that is affecting your peace of mind? Does something you’ve said or done years ago make you feel unworthy or dirty still today? Do you have a regret that pins you in a corner, shouting, “Shame on you”?

If so, I understand. I spent years stuck in self hatred and remorse. I allowed my secrets to bleed through yesterday’s pages straight into my todays, stealing my hope and joy. But thank God, I didn’t stay there forever. I wanted out badly enough to wrestle and push and fight. Today I’m no longer a slave to my secrets. I’m free to share, thanks to the healing I’ve found through Jesus.

You, too, can overcome. You can choose to share your secret, accept truth and finally rest in the healing hand of God. He is for you. No matter what you’ve done, God won’t stop loving you. (Romans 8:38-39) He will pursue you all the days of your life. Even on your deathbed, He will sing a love song over you. Are you listening?

Please don’t let fear or shame rob you of what you could have with God today. Say yes to the One who loves you more than anyone on earth can. Start by sharing your secret with God. He’s stooping low and leaning in to listen.

Just watch what God will do. He’s bigger and stronger than anything we try to hide. Secrets can’t stop Him.

So why the talk about secrets today?

Because this morning I spent an hour sharing online with two sweet friends, Lisa Shaw and Tammy Rude, about our common secret.

Lisa Shaw has an amazing heart for people to see themselves through God’s eyes. I’ve met Lisa a couple times and she is the real deal, a minister at heart. Her love and passion for people is contagious. Jesus is HER Lord. I feel blessed to call her sister and dear friend.

I’ve never met Tammy in person, but we found each other’s blogs years ago because of our common bond. She’s precious. She’s whole, reaching out to help others. I loved hearing Tammy’s story live. What a powerful communicator she is. Her story touched my life in a fresh way today. I thank God for Tammy. Maybe someday I will we meet face to face. :)

To listen to (The Whole Women by Lisa Shaw) our radio conversation about Breaking the Silence, please visit either Lisa Shaw Cares or her Facebook page or the radio link.

QUESTION: Do you believe secrets make people sick? If so, why or why not. Please join the conversation in the comments. NO sign up required.
